OUR STORY

This is our story

Anchor 2

This all started when I was in uni... Every day, my friends asked me “Shall we order takeaway?”. At first, I was enjoying the freedom of being able to order anything I wanted, whenever I wanted. But then I quickly realised how much money I’d been spending on takeaways, so I started cooking. Being half Japanese, I often cooked Japanese food. As I was in a multicultural community, people around me were often intrigued by the meals I made. And vice versa. So we frequently exchanged and learned about each other’s cultures. This was fun and exciting, but the cooking wasn’t for many. One day, I heard one of my friends ask my other friend if she could cook a week’s worth of meals for a certain price.

This is when I started thinking and had a quick look around. Most people were ordering daily or buying frozen chicken and chips. I noticed that there were limited options for people to enjoy the same dishes they used to enjoy at home. This is when I envisioned my business, Dyce Kitchen. My dream when I was young was to be a chef and was even gifted a personalised knife by my Grandad years ago. My passion for cooking became a reality.

However, I thought there was no way that someone like me could start a business. So I pushed my idea to the back of my mind until 2022 when I started my 9-5 job. I was now hit with another reality. Lunch at work. Working in central London, lunch was so costly, time-consuming, and repetitive. So I often brought lunch from home. But realistically, who’s got time and the energy to prep lunch for the next day after a hard long day at work? My idea came back to life. It wasn’t just the students struggling. It was also the working adults. I wanted to provide a service to help all the professionals striving towards success by taking away the most time-consuming, mundane chore of their lives, cooking.

Dyce Kitchen isn’t your ordinary ready-made meal prep or bland, health-orientated gym-goers' meal. It has flavours, is nutritious, and allows you to enjoy 3 different cultures in a week. Sounds too good to be true? Try it out for yourself with Dyce Kitchen and see how much time you save.
